Professional Speaking Coaches

How Throughline Helps You Succeed

We are reliable, relatable, and trusted public speaking coaches who see the high-stakes moments for what they are – opportunities to distinguish yourself as a leader and expert in your field. You’ve earned the right to take the mic. Let us help you to amplify your message by leveraging the knowledge you already have with the knowledge we have.

We get it. You’re busy. So, we take a tailored and targeted approach that uniquely works for you.

An executive public speaking coach narrows in on the areas that bring about immediate improvement and immediate results. But training is also about conditioning. You want a peak performance for every presentation.

This is what we’ll do:

  • Develop an action plan that works for today’s presentation, tomorrow’s keynote address, and future global webinars, as well as board presentations and shareholder meetings
  • Conduct deep research that allows us to prepare an in-depth and effective session
  • Deliver coaching that aligns with your style, content, and specific presentation needs

We understand this is an investment of your time, talent, and money. We see this as an investment in us, and we are committed to offering a valuable return:

  • Better communication skills
  • Stronger and more persuasive messages
  • Greater confidence earned through understanding how to prepare and deliver a successful talk
  • More targeted presentations that get results before the audiences that matter most to you

We believe that brings value to whatever industry you lead and whatever stage you are on.

Since 2004, we have encouraged our clients to draw on the skills and talents they already possess and to magnify their strengths by utilizing the tools and techniques we share with them.

A public speaking coach’s success is measured by the success of the speakers they coach. A great coach is merely the key to unlocking who you truly are and who you truly can be.

As such, during our public speaking training for executives – whether they take place in New York City, Washington, D.C., or virtually – we take a laser focus on those areas you want to unlock through discussion, presentation practice, interactive exercises, and real-time video review. Our level of preparation and research allows us to effectively and productively zero in on areas for growth and work in real time to find the formula that works.

We also will work with your communications team to ensure the tips, techniques, and strategies we share fit within your corporate culture and professional community. This is an individualized approach that brings individualized improvement, but it has a collective impact. You will learn how to better connect, inform, and inspire your audiences; attract customers and supporters; and enhance your reputation as an expert in your field.

Let us help you.

We offer one of the most generous free post-training programs in the industry, which includes:

  • Ten in-depth clients-only special reports
  • A one-on-one follow up consultation with your trainer before your next presentation

You want the best speaking coach so you can gain the best results. We present ourselves as a proven option for your consideration.

HOW IS OUR PUBLIC SPEAKING COACHING DIFFERENT?

  • We conduct deep research into your organization.

If there’s one thing clients have told us more than anything else, it’s how surprised they were by the amount of research we conducted before each session. Before your customized coaching session, we’ll review your previous and upcoming speeches, PowerPoint presentations, outlines, notes, and video clips. We’ll also learn more about your organization, the audiences you face, and the challenges you encounter when discussing your work.

  • We are industry leaders

Our first book, The Media Training Bible, was an Amazon #1 Public Relations best seller. Our second book, 101 Ways to Open a Speech, was a Kindle #1 Public Speaking best seller. We’ve trained tens of thousands of people for the world’s biggest stages—and have earned the repeat business of many loyal clients who were thrilled with their results.

  • We know how to teach.

Knowing how to deliver a successful presentation isn't enough. It's far more important to be able to transfer our knowledge to our clients in a manner that enables them to act on it immediately. We’re rooted in theory but deliver practical advice. We've regularly refined our teaching methodology since 2004 and have delivered hundreds of successful coaching engagements.

  • We root our recommendations in research.

We regularly hear stories from clients who were instructed by a previous trainer to do something that didn't have any basis in research. As a result, the trainees were trying to communicate in an unnatural manner that went against their instincts—and that didn't work for their audiences. Wherever possible, our advice is based in research, not subjective opinion.

OUR COACHING APPROACH

Rooted in Theory, Focused On Practical Advice

A great communication coach knows speakers perform better when the advice they get is practical, doable, and measurable. Our public speaking coaches work to find the best presentation practices, based on research and real-life applications, and convey that knowledge to you for immediate results.

We’ve seen thousands of clients become better speakers in just hours by incorporating these commonsense approaches for presentations large and small. We can offer tips on all aspects of your presentation, or only in those areas where you want to sharpen your tools.

We tailor these tips after extensive preparation and research into your industry or area of expertise so that they are relevant, effective, and more likely to connect with your audience. We’ll review your previous and upcoming speeches, including accompanying visuals. We learn about the audiences you face, and any obstacles you typically encounter during your talks.

We know there is no detail too small to uncover and no big-picture issue too large to tackle when it comes to your presentation or speech. We will encourage you to experiment and expand your range and offer personalized feedback that can be instantly implemented. We work collaboratively with you to reach your potential in a warm and encouraging environment.

We’ve helped speakers prepare for TED, the World Economic Forum, and a presidential debate. We’ve helped fundraisers seek support for their cause. We’ve helped municipal leaders better connect with and better inform their communities. We’ve helped executives create winning presentations to attract customers to the products they deeply believe in. And, we’ve helped speakers at all stages to encourage audiences to think big.

Whether you want to work with our presentation coaches in New York, Washington, D.C., or at your location, we offer in-person consultations and virtual training.

During your training, we listen, we observe, and we ask questions – including those that are often the most difficult and challenging. We know those are the ones that lead to breakthroughs and transformational change. We give clients tips to take with them on their way to becoming a great public speaker. Rather than being prescriptive, the journey is their own. How they incorporate that advice into their own personality remains individualized.

We work to strengthen what is working for you and give the insight and advice as to where distractions may be getting in your way.

We prepare the person, not just the presenter. We work collaboratively to find the solutions to the obstacles that are preventing you from becoming the speaker you want to be.

You have the talent. We just help you reveal it.

PRESENTATION COACHING

How to Deliver a Professional Presentation

Every speaking engagement is unique. Every audience is different. But there is one constant when it comes to each of your professional presentations – you.

The way you build your presentation – from initial concept to the final word and beyond – is key in how you connect to the audience, create a message that sticks, and compel your audience to act, whatever that desired action may be.

During your speaker training, we’ll focus on how to build an effective and successful presentation which allows the true you to shine through, as well as your most important message. What are the fundamentals of a powerful and persuasive presentation? We give you six.

  1. Know Your Audience. You can have a powerhouse message, but if it doesn’t align with the needs or values of your audience, how do you expect to draw them in the direction you want them to go? The more you know about your audience, the better able you are to create an enduring and memorable message, as well as gather the supporting details that hold meaning for your audience. We’ll help you to uncover the attitudes, desires, and expectations of your audience well before you utter a word.
  2. Make a Connection. Your audience is more likely to hear you and consider what you have to say if you forge a connection early in your presentation. There are myriad opportunities to connect with the audience, beginning with the way you introduce yourself to the delivery of your final thought. You will learn how to form that bond by the words you use, the type of presentation you deliver, and the nonverbal language you express.
  3. Create a Path. The best talks, whether formal or informal, have a beginning, middle, and end that is strung together with your main points and supporting materials. We’ll help you to create a clear throughline that keeps your audience’s attention from the beginning, through the middle, and to the end.
  4. Be Clear with Your Cause. The simplest way to move minds is to provide them with a simple plan of action – and that comes from a clear message and an equally transparent call to action. We’ll help you to avoid the dreaded “data dump.”
  5. Plan Ahead. Our clients routinely tell us one of the best remedies to presentation jitters is to prepare and practice. Learn effective and efficient ways to prepare for and be ready for the expected and the unexpected at your next talk.
  6. Be You. When you show you are passionate and energetic about your material, you likely will infuse your audience with a similar spark. Even if you give multiple structured and planned presentations, the audience is looking to hear your unique voice. Authenticity is not something that can be taught or imparted to you. What we do is help to bring out the real you.

These are just some of the areas we cover. We help to identify and target those areas of your presentation that need work and then go about improving them. Do you want to better handle challenging questions? Is your message less than clear? Do you talk too fast? Do you talk too slow? Do you want to become more informal in your delivery? Is your body giving your nervousness away?

Let some of the best speech coaches in NYC work with you to find the tips and techniques that work best – not just for any public speaker – but for you.

Our success is your success.
